Residents and visitors to Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach’s beachside will soon have another option for eating out.
Jimmy Hula’s is slated to open their newest location in Jacksonville Beach, Florida occupying a former Wendy’s space near the intersection of A1A and Beach Blvd. The new Jacksonville Beach location will seat 150 guests and feature a large covered outdoor dining patio and a full liquor bar. It is located at 528 Beach Blvd, and is scheduled to open in early April. Hiring for the new location has begun and the restaurant will employee 30-35 new jobs.
Currently, Jimmy Hula’s has two units operating in the Jacksonville area, one in Orange Park and another near the intersection of Atlantic and Hodges, with plans to add 12 additional units in the greater Jacksonville-St. Augustine area over the next 5 years.
Jimmy Hula’s is a fast casual restaurant and describes their offerings as “Food Nirvana”. The chain specializes in award-winning Fish Tacos, Island Style Burgers, Bowls, Salads and Craft Beers, with menu items such as the Killer Fish Taco, Juan Jovi Burger, Jimichurri Bowl and Gnarly Nachos. The island/surf culture-themed concept has created a cult like following of “locals” who visit regularly to experience Food Nirvana!
The Orlando based chain was started in Winter Park, Florida in 2011 by Jim and Zach Hartman and opened its first franchised location in Lake Mary in 2013. Presently there are 11 units in operation with an additional 56 franchise unit reservations to be developed over the next five years. In 2016 the company sold area development deals in Jacksonville-St. Augustine, Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater and Miami.
“We are extremely excited to open and serve the people of Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach!”, Hartman said.
