Take the Stairs

If your workout regimen needs a boost, the solution can be as easy as taking the stairs.


Stair-climbing is a body weight exercise that elevates the heart rate, and strengthens the core, hip flexors, glutes and hamstrings. On its own or as a cross-training activity, stair-climbing will give your lower body some great overall conditioning.

While most gyms offer a stair-climbing machine, in most cases, you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home or office to take on this workout. Any staircase will do.

Practice repeating flights taking the stairs two and then three at a time. Mix it up by walking up and down sideways, crossing one leg over the other. Add hand weights or ankle weights to increase the challenge, and don’t forget a cool-down stretch when you’re finished.
