Last weekend, Atlanta’s Savage Fam Productions brought “The Bar Exam” to Jax. The show took the excitement, drama, heartbreak of the likes of “American Idol” and “Showtime at the Apollo” and put it in front of a live audience.
Attendees got to see three rounds of performances by rappers, singers and slam poets. Two music industry judges critiqued and narrowed the performers down to the top five. Judges were Mal Jones (creator of Lyricist Live here in Jax) and Mas Appeal (creator of Hip-Hop and Hooka).
The audience ultimately chose the overall winner, and he received an all-expenses paid trip to Atlanta to headline the next “The Bar Exam” in March. Here are the winners from each round:
Round 1: Clas$ick (rapper, Jax resident)
Round 2: Chase Webb (rapper, Ohio resident)
Round 3: Blue Moon (rapper, Jax resident)
Wild Card (voted out but given a second chance): Big Dale (rapper, Jax resident)
Overall Winner: Big Dale (rapper, Jax resident)
The show was founded four years ago in Atlanta, has gained national press and is considered a staple in the music community of Atlanta. Expect to see “The Bar Exam” in Jax again sometime in June. Visit http://thebarexamopenmic.com/ for more information.
