Gusto – A Taste of Rome

By Keith Rydh

Gusto is not your run of the mill generic Italian restaurant too often found in the US. Both owners, Walter Bianchi and Chef Tonino Di Bella grew up in the Rome area, both are fluent in Italian, and insist on serving only the most authentic recipes. Gusto is your taste of classic Rome, authentic old world dishes prepared by skilled Italian chefs that guarantee a delicious experience you won’t soon forget.

Chef Tonino Di Bella has been delighting Jacksonville for 30 years with his Italian creations. From pasta and pizza to veal, chicken and fish specialties, his menu is extensive and includes various Roman specialties not normally found in local restaurants. Chef Tonino’s pizza has been voted Best Pizza in Jacksonville by the Times Union’s readers in 2016. We enjoyed some Bruschette followed by a hand tossed Margherita pizza. All ingredients were fresh and as boasted, all flavors were authentic and traditional… just what we were looking for!

Gusto is open daily for dinner and late night with a carefully stocked bar, open viewing pizza kitchen, handmade desserts, and a full dinner menu cultivated over generations by our Italian family. They feature gluten free options, outdoor patio seating, with take out and delivery available. Stop on by for Happy Hour 5 to 7 and a late Night Happy Hour after 9. Gusto has live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays and frequently have special events. Be sure to keep up with Gusto on all of your social media. Reservations are recommended so don’t miss out on the fun!
