International Décor Outlet and Local Businesses Breathing New Life Into Regency Square With the Announcement of Asian Town

International Décor Outlet (IDO) announced the official launch and business plan of Asian Town Jacksonville, a 100,000 square-foot Asian themed shopping center. The western side of the Regency Square Mall will be converted to house the new businesses in an attempt to bring new economic growth to the Regency area.
Asian Town, which is a project by IDO, along with other Jacksonville based retailers and restaurateurs, will include various restaurants, boutiques, and salons. It will also have businesses selling products and foods from the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, and India. The complex also has plans to hold various Asian themed cultural events that will celebrations of different Asian countries.
Peter Qiu, the owner of the local restaurant Fuji Ultimate Sushi Grill, is a co-developer of Asian Town. Qiu had taken notice of the growth of the Asian population in Jacksonville since he moved here in 1998. He believes that Asian Town will help Jacksonville better acclimate to the growing diversity.
“Asian Town will be a place for all of us,” Qiu said during the announcement.
There has not been an official announcement on the exact date that AsianTown will have its grand opening, however, the first shops from IDO will open on April 6th. This will include a seafood restaurant called Captain’s Catch, as well as five new home décor outlets.
William Connerly, Chief Operating Officer for IDO, said that the outlets will allow Jacksonville shoppers to have access to high-end, international products at outlet prices, including items such as kitchen appliances, textiles, and bathroom fixtures. Despite the international branding, IDO is looking for business partnerships with home decor and materials businesses in the general regions of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
