Beer/Wine Bars: The Social Lounge, St. Augustine

Tags: , , , , ,

Tucked away on Cuna St. in an old house in Downtown St. Augustine is a very small beer and wine bar with a very big heart. While the place only has a couple of tables and a few bar seats, it’s a fun and friendly establishment. At any given time, you’ll find owners Scott and Coleen Moulton or Dustin Shannon behind the bar.

What types of beer do you offer?

We offer only Florida craft beers! We have six rotating Florida drafts on tap. We also offer around six beers and a cider in cans.

Do you offer other types of drinks besides beer?

We also serve red, white and rose organic wines from around the world. All of our wines come from certified organic vineyards. Organic wines do not contain any added sulfites. We also offer an organic vegan Sangria. We use a Sangria wine base and add five frozen fruits (peaches, strawberries, grapes, mango and pineapple). Our Sangria is second to none!

What kind of building is your business in?

The Social Lounge is located on the first floor in an old home which was originally built in the 1800s. St. Augustine is full of history and charm. This house, its history, and its location depict those qualities, and we felt it was the perfect place for our pub!

Who do you see more of at your bar: craft beer geeks or those new to craft beer?

We see a very mixed array. Many patrons are craft beer connoisseurs, and many are stopping in to try their first craft beer or Florida craft beer and learn about them.

What do you like about being located in downtown St. Augustine?

We enjoy being a part of a community that is so rich in history and meeting the visitors to the city and the local neighborhood people. We like to think that we are becoming a part of the neighborhood and contributing to it.

Why did you open The Social Lounge?

It started out as an adventure and has turned in to a passion and a real sense of belonging in the community.

Do you offer any activities for patrons while they’re relaxing with a drink?

We have four TVs, which are always showing current sporting events. We are also a board game bar, and we offer our customers a variety of board games to play while enjoying a pint or glass of wine.

What else would you like people to know about The Social Lounge?

We are a neighborhood pub that wants guests to feel like they’re a part of our family when they come in. We hope that more and more people will discover our small gem in this wonderful city!

Cheers!
