BUZZ interviewed Refik Eler and learned about his passion for being in the courtroom.

Q: Why did you choose to go into law?

A: America has the best justice system in the world. I like that people have the right to seek the truth and to be defended. Trial work is one of the last places we have human interaction.

Q: What is your specific field of law?

A: Trial law — family law, criminal law, anything in the courtroom.

Q: How long have you been practicing?

A: Over 30 years.

Q: Why did you choose your particular field of law?

A: Because it brings myself and other people to the courtroom. Everyone working in the courtroom has different skills and talents that they bring to the table. I like to talk and convince people and I like to get people thinking about the other side of the story.

Q: What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment as an attorney?

A: Giving people hope. Seeing people in bad situations who feel their lives are in turmoil and giving them hope because you’re on their side and doing what you can to make their life better.

Q: What are your goals within the next 5 years?

A: Continue trial work and mentor young attorneys.
I had several great mentors throughout the years and this is important in future practices. My goal is to leave a legacy personally as well as professionally.
